Itinerary management

The itinerary view is a compilation of all your current and future trips in one single place in the form of a timeline. Even when Sam notifies you of something related to your reservations, the information is also available here. The most critical info is displayed outside without having to tap the reservation. Accessing the segment will give you extra info, like directions, weather forecasts or photos.

How to navigate the itinerary

Tap the blue "+" button in the right corner if you want to add new trips manually or book new trips

Long-press on a segment to open the options menu

Tap on a segment to open it and see more detailed information

Where does the data come from?

Here's a very simplified data flow:

Itinerary Sync

General info

Once we receive the PNR from one of the possible sources (see graphic above) Sam is able automatically read and display (sync) several types of reservations: flights, hotels, car rentals & train bookings, with some limitations:

  • Multipax PNR's are not supported.
  • The traveler must have a HUB profile.

The steps that must be taken to successfully send a PNR to Sam depend on the specific GDS being used.

Amadeus

  • Send it to the corresponding Queue depending on your country
  • Add the traveler GUID in the PNR
  • Amended and cancelled PNR's should be requeued to Sam in order to update the traveler's itinerary

Sabre

  • PNR's are automatically synched to Sam through the system called Compleat
  • PNR changes or cancellations won't need to be requeued in order for the changes to be read and reflected in Sam; this is done automatically by Compleat

Check your existing trips or add new ones

The itinerary's function is double: showing all your existing trips and allowing you to add new ones. Hint: tap the blue button on the right bottom corner; an overlay menu will appear, and you can access the manual forms from there.

For more in depth info about all the different way to add trips to Sam, check this section.

Some users might see a second option in the menu called "Book new trip", which means your company has habilitated either a line with a consultant - via chat - or a self-booking tool (SBT); if both options are available, you will be asked how you want to complete the action.

Anatomy of a trip segment

The key information of a trip is always displayed in the itinerary view; things like a flight departure time or the check-in date. But there's more info you can obtain by tapping the reservation itself, as well as more options like sharing your trip or reporting wrong info.

The main options you will find are:

  • Share button: triggers a share screen with the key info about the reservation plus a link that will add that trip to the recipient's Sam account.
  • Three dots menu: contains options like 'Report wrong info' or 'Add to calendar' More info on how to add events to your calendar.
  • Share status: only available for flights. Generates a link to a dynamic website with the flight data. The recipient doesn't need to have an account or the app to see it. It works like any other website.
  • Options button: contains options like 'Edit reservation' or 'Write new tip' (if available)
